HealthOne Data-sharing
To give you safer, coordinated care, we may use HealthOne and Health New Zealand hospital systems to view relevant health information needed for your care and treatment.
Information recorded by your healthcare providers may be shared through HealthOne to support your ongoing care. You can choose how much of your information is shared through HealthOne.
What is HealthOne?
HealthOne is a secure shared electronic health record held by HealthOne LP, a partnership between Health New Zealand and Pegasus Health (Charitable) Limited.
HealthOne brings together key health information recorded by your healthcare providers, including information about your allergies, medicines, and important medical conditions. This information can be viewed by other authorised healthcare providers involved in your care, such as your GP, pharmacist, hospital staff, and after-hours services, helping them understand your health needs and reducing the need for you to repeat your story.
Your choices
You have options about how your information is shared. You can ask us to stop sharing a particular item or everything from our service, or you can opt off HealthOne completely.

HealthOne & Health New Zealand
Health New Zealand holds the records of your hospital and other secondary care, and runs the systems that authorised HealthOne healthcare providers use to view those records and to access HealthOne. Those records remain in Health New Zealand’s own systems and are not held by HealthOne. Health New Zealand shares relevant information with authorised HealthOne healthcare providers so they can see a more complete picture of your health information.
When a Health New Zealand clinician accesses your HealthOne record while providing your care, Health New Zealand is collecting information from HealthOne in the same way as other authorised healthcare providers. Health New Zealand uses this information to provide you with appropriate care and treatment and is authorised to request this information under the Health Act 1956.
